There are some species of seahorses that thrive in Sydney Harbour, living in seagrass and on artificial structures like nets and jetty pylons. The nets in Manly Cove, right outside Manly SEA LIFE Sanctuary, are home to these beautiful creatures. Unfortunately seahorses are susceptible to many threats, including illegal collections for use in private aquariums.
Globally, SEA LIFE is a pioneer in the field of seahorse breeding, helping this very sensitive and endangered sea creature from facing extinction. Manly SEA LIFE Sanctuary is working to establish our very own seahorse breeding program.
