Oceanworld Manly closed its doors for the very last time this evening… and will open up in the morning as Manly SEA LIFE Sanctuary!
As part of our relaunch, we will be opening a brand new Penguin Cove display on the upper level, home to Manly's iconic Little Penguins. Penguin Cove perfectly captures the Little Penguins' native environment, with sand, native grass and plants, and a sand-stone shelter.
In preparation for our opening, today we invited some VIPs to help us release some Little Penguins into their new home. With the help of local Penguin Warden, Angelika Treichler, three new penguins, Dewey, Louie and Clarence were introduced into Penguin Cove. Huey is still in quarantine behind the scenes, and will join his brothers soon.
Two of our Junior Oceanologist winners, Kaleb and Carla looked on during the release, then got the chance to enter the exhibit to help the keepers with a penguin feed.
Manly SEA LIFE Sanctuary will be celebrating the relaunch with a Mums and Bubs morning tea on Thursday, 28th June from 10am-11am. We will then be holding an afternoon tea on Friday 29th June from 3.30-5.30pm for locals to come and help us celebrate.
Join us for our morning tea or afternoon tea, and be one of the first to see our Little Penguin colony, and the NEW Manly SEA LIFE Sanctuary.
